Voice থেকে একটাই প্রশ্ন আসে। একটা active sentence দিয়ে বলা হয় কোনটা সঠিক passive form? উল্টোটাও হয়, কিন্তু কম।
Passive voiceএ sentenceএর একটা মৌলিক গঠন আছে। গঠনটা হলঃ
[Object] + [be verb] + past participle of main verb + by + [objective form of subject]
এই ফর্মূলা মুখস্ত করে ফেলতে হবে। এবং এই একটা করলেই হবে। কারণ এই গঠনটা দিয়ে সমস্ত passive sentenceকেই ব্যাখ্যা করা যায়।

উদাহরণঃ
Active: The rich hate the poor.
Passive: The poor [object] are [be verb] hated [past participle of main verb] by the rich [objective form of subject].
এই গঠনের মধ্যে যে অন্যান্য extensionগুলো হতে পারে তা হলঃ

১. Main verb যদি group verb হয়, group verb এর prepositionটা একই জায়গায় থাকবে।

২. By এর জায়গায়ঃ
To — যখন verbটা হলঃ know. উদাহরণঃ I know him. Passive: He is known to me.
At— যখন verbটা হলঃ astonish, annoy, agitate, amaze, alarm, disappoint, displease, surprise, rejoice উদাহরণঃ His behaviour surprised me. Passive: I was surprised at his behaviour.
With— যখন verbটা হলঃ disgust, bother, line, cover, crowd, satisfy, overgrow. উদাহরণঃ He disgusts me. Passive: I am disgusted with him.
In— যখন verbটা হলঃ contain, embody, interest উদাহরণঃ The bowl contains rice. Passive: Rice is contained in the bowl.
About— যখন verbটা হলঃ worry উদাহরণঃ He worries me. Passive: I am worried about him.
Of— যখন verbটা হলঃ frighten উদাহরণঃ He frightens me. Passive: I am frightened of him.

৩. Auxiliary verb থাকলে সেটা be verbএর আগে বসিয়ে দিতে হবে:
Active: I must eat rice.
Passive: Rice must be eaten by me.

৪. Double object থাকলে ব্যক্তিবাচক object কে সামনে দিয়ে অন্যটাকে main verb এর পেছনে বসিয়ে passive করতে হবে:
Active: He gave me rice.
Passive: I was given rice by him.

৫. মাঝে মাঝে interrogative sentence এর passive প্রশ্নে আসে, লক্ষ্য করলে দেখা যাবে:

Active sentence এর [subject] + [verb] + [object] গঠনটা interrogativeএ গিয়ে + [aux.] + [subject] + [verb] + [object]?
তাহলে আমাদের ঐ ফর্মূলা অনুযায়ী passive voice কি হবে?
[Question word] + [be verb] + [Object] + past participle of main verb + by + [objective form of subject]?
Active: Why do you eat rice?
Passive: Why is rice eaten by you?
